READY GOLF GUIDELINES
Ready Golf is THINKING AHEAD so as to be READY TO PLAY when it is YOUR TURN! This applies everwhere on the golf course.
At the Tee Box
- The player with honors should be ready to play right away. If not, then someone else should hit. Remember you should be hitting off the tee before or at your scheduled tee time and not after it.
- When waiting for the group in front to clear the fairway, shorter hitters should consider hitting first.
- Tee-off as soon as the group ahead is clear.
- Carry an extra ball in your pocket.
In the Fairway
- All players should go to their balls as soon as possible and be READY to play their shots.
- While waiting, players should survey their shot, select a club, take it from the bag and stand by their ball ready to hit when clear. If you are ready to hit, and no one else is, go ahead and hit your shot while the others are getting ready for theirs. No need to recognize “honors” unless your shot might interfere with theirs.
- Drivers should drop off their partners, let them select a club and then proceed to their own ball and be ready to hit. Drivers should not wait for their partner to hit then drive to their own ball. Passenger players should hit their ball when clear and then proceed down the course on foot or walk toward their partner who will pick them up after hitting their shot.
- Limit search for lost ball to 3 minutes. The 3 minutes begins when the play begins to search.
- Other players should assist in the search, but only AFTER they have hit their own ball.
- Special Q’s League note: Remember - None of us out here on Sunday morning are part of the PGA Tour. Only a couple can even consider reaching a green from 220 yards out and chances are you’re not one of them. You know you’re going to lay-up so please go ahead and do it.
On the Green
- Place your clubs between green and next tee (or near where you cart is parked which should be at a point closer to the next tee box).
- Study your putt while others are putting.
- Continue putting until holed out. (If you must mark, you must, but remember it does slowdown play so try not to do it as just a matter of habit)
- Leave the green immediately after holing out and proceed to the next tee. Complete your scorecard after you’re off the green.
- Par 3 Greens - Upon reaching the green, if the group in front of you is waiting to hit on the next tee, stand in a safe area and have the group behind you hit.
- This year the pin may remain in the cup when putting (no penalty), so if you’re a tap in away go ahead and do it while the others in your group are setting up their shots.
Time Savers
- Mark your score on the way to the next tee.
- If you need to get something out of your bag or adjust your clubs or some such thing, please do it on the way or at the next tee box and not next to a green. Clear the green area for the group behind you.
